THE BEST STREET STYLE LOOKS FROM PRIDE, JULY 1, 2019
Since
the end of the Stonewall riots, Pride Week has been the one week out of
the whole year where people of all tastes, preferences, shapes, and
peculiarities can come together and celebrate the fact that they are
different. This week is a time of acceptance of one’s own self and
others as well. In this week no one is less and everyone is equal and
loved. Pride week has a number of different events held throughout the
week where people, especially in the LGBTQ community come out and shine
their colours for the whole world to see. This week was created to show
support and give confidence to those who still feel less than everyone
else.
The
street style, especially in this one week of the year, changes
drastically. People wear the things they normally would not, things that
they would feel embarrassed in if it were any other week in the year.
Many individuals prefer to wear extremely rainbow like clothing,
accessories and shoes. The rainbow theme is to showcase the uniqueness
and the individuality between all humans. This is why the Pride colours
are the colours of the Rainbow and why the flag of the LGBTQ community
is that of a rainbow as well. It’s amazing the kind of style people wear
during this week! If you’ve missed it and want to have a look at it
again then here are some of the best street styles spotted in Pride
Week.
Best street styles from pride!
- Sweet Tooth Pride: This man walked the streets in a wonderful and extremely unique multi-coloured and multi-tiered gown that gave the distinct impression of different flavoured icing on a cake. This individual was one of the highlights of pride week as he showcased the fact that it is okay to allow the world to see you and all the faces that you possess. Even if those faces are goofy and too sweet to stomach at times.
- Star Spangled Pride: This bearded beauty was seen modelling a short gown with a long train trailing behind him. It was decorated in the colours of the American banner and looked like he was having the time of his life. And why shouldn’t he? He’s portraying his pride as well as his love for America, the country that gave him his freedom. Paired with the burgundy hair our bearded beauty was truly a sight to behold!
- The Power Of Makeup: If you saw a woman with blonde hair going about her business with a portable faux vanity table attached to her, don’t worry your eyes were not deceiving you and you actually did see such a thing! My friends this woman showed us the power and beauty in makeup. She rose up against those who would discriminate against the people who love makeup. After all, to each, their own and there is absolutely no fault in wanting to look beautiful and presentable at all hours of the day.
- Lady Liberty Takes The Pride Walk: The epitome of liberation, freedom, and acceptance of people being allowed to love and be whoever they want was showcased quite spectacularly by this woman who wore a lady liberty costume, complete with a crown and a held up torch with faux fire. Of course, our dear Lady Liberty was also holding a bottle of what is presumed to be wine in her left hand as well but then again its pride week! So everyone should enjoy themselves any way they want to. And not just in this week but throughout their life as well!
- The Paint-Splattered Ensemble: The street styles that I’ve mentioned above are pretty unique and out there but this particular individual chose to show his Pride by wearing a simple white ensemble splattered with droplets of different coloured paint. He chose to be subtle about his Pride walk and that made him all the more lovable. Don’t you think so?
- White on Colour: Just like the person who chose to wore some white clothes splattered with paint, this beautiful woman wore a see-through dress white dress that had small birds printed all over it in different colours. Her neon yellow lingerie was also shining through which showed her acceptance of her own body. It also showed the world that everyone should be able to accept their different bodies because we are all made to shine differently. This woman further enhanced her pride look by the rainbow scrunchies and the rainbow nail polish she donned for the day.
