THE BEST BLING ON THE MET GALA RED CARPET

The universally anticipated Met Gala is finally here and it brought some crazy trends along with it. The theme was “Camp: Notes On Fashion” so, naturally, our favourite A-listers showed up in the most mind blowing and outrageous outfits, accessorized with some very high end jewellery. Since the theme was Camp, the costumes seen on the steps of the Met this year were genderless, extravagant, with unique silhouettes, and indeed, very campy. However, these over the top looks would have been seriously incomplete without the jewellery that adorned the necks, heads, hands, and even nails of our favourite A-list celebrities. IF you’re wondering about the trends and fads concerning the jewellery at the Met Gala of 2019, or even want to incorporate these bold and extravagant pieces into your style, you’re at the right place because following are the 8 best jewels that were seen at the Met Gala this year.

#1 Emerald Jewellery:

From Amber Valetta to Lupita Nyong’o, an abundance of celebrities rocked classic emerald jewellery at this gala. The royally deep shade surrounded with bright white diamonds sparkled up their outfits undeniably. Our favourite supermodel, Bella Hadid, added extra points to her already jewelled dress with a pair of beautiful emerald and diamond drop earrings from Lorraine Schwartz. The ‘To The Bone’ star, Lily Collins, showed looking like a 50s beauty queen with her voluminous hair and her colourful makeup, all of which she accessorized with an emerald, rock crystal, onyx, and diamond necklace and matching earrings from Cartier’s Magnitude high jewellery collection.

#2 Piling On The Rings:

The award winning actress, Elle Fanning, opted for a Barbie inspired look which she aced with her neon outfit and colourful jewellery. Not stopping at charming nails, Fanning adorned her fingers with a radiant array of cocktail rings from Tiffany and Co. This trend wasn’t limited to just women, as the theme required the attendees to be as genderless as possible. The former One Direction member and co-host of this year’s Met Gala, Harry Styles, accompanied his painted nails with a collection of metal rings, two of which spelled out his initials.

#3 Tassel Earrings:

It seems that everyone is completely obsessed with tassel jewellery lately, and the American Horror Story star, Sara Paulson, rocked it best at the 2019 Met Gala when she accessorized her black dress with a sparkling pair of David Morris diamond tassel earrings. This immediately brightened up her whole look and perfectly complimented her natural and soft makeup, making her look sophisticated and mature in the best way. This look is giving us some serious Lily Van Der Woodsen vibes.

#4 Pearl Jewellery:

As the co-host of this year’s Met Gala, Harry Styles was expected to look one of the best, and he definitely did not disappoint. Clad in a sheer, black Gucci outfit, Styles broke all gender norms as he stepped out on the pink carpet with co-host Alessandro Michele. Along with a handful of metal rings that represented different things, including his initials, the singer was rocking a single pearl earring by Sir Walter Raleigh on his right ear. It seems that pearl earrings are all the rage this year, or maybe just one pearl earring.

#5 Jeweled Headpieces:

An abundance of celebrities rocked extravagant and glimmering headpieces. From Celine Dion to Gal Gadot, our favourite female A-listers showed up looking like queens ready to reign over the Met Gala. Gal Gadot, or better known as Wonder Woman, crowned her head with a faux pearl and diamond headpiece from Givenchy to accessorize her white lace dress. Not stopping at that, the actress was also rocking a breathtaking pair of diamond tassel earrings from Tiffany and Co.

#6 Drop Earrings:

Much like Celine Dion, drop earrings are a classic trend that comes back each season looking more glamorous and elegant as ever. Dion shocked the attendees with her unbelievably sparkly dress and extravagant headdress, all of which she accessorized with a glimmering pair of ‘20s diamond earrings by Fred Leighton. Kendall Jenner wore imperial topaz diamond drop earrings from Tiffany’s 2019 Blue Book Collection. Benedict Cumberbatch’s wife, Sophie Hunter, sparkled up to her lilac dress with drop earrings by Verdura. Last but not least, Amber Valetta combined two trends and wore drop emerald and diamond earrings from Chopard’s Haute Joaillerie Collection.

#7 Diamond Watches:

Men or women, everyone took a glamorously professional turn as they rocked sparkling diamond watches with their dresses or suits. Co-host Serena Williams, who we praise for pairing her colourful gown with sneakers, wore De Grisogono jewels and a diamond set watch by Audemars Piguet. Singer Nick Jonas looked uniquely glamorous as he rocked a major diamond necklace, ring, and watch by The Swiss Jeweller. Michael B. Jordan looked dashing wearing a diamond ring and Altiplano watch by Piaget.

#8 Gold Jewellery:

It’s no secret that the famous American stage performer, actor, and pop singer; Billy Porter has the grandest entrance at the Met Gala 2019, but his outfit and jewels weren’t any short of grand either. Billy Porter being his Avant Grand self showed up dowsed in gold jewellery from head to toe. His gold angel wings, headpiece, and face décor added to the drama of his overall look. If we have taken any notes from Billy Porter’s Met Gala look this year, it is to bring out our golds as this trend is here to stay.
